Three Blind Wolves

Written by

This is exactly one of the reasons why we decided to start ‘The Dirty Dozen’, to highlight bands like Three Blind Wolves. The sort of band that is sneaking through the ranks and undoubtedly be very much talked about in the near future. Obviously we’ll be expecting to take some kind of credit for this services we provide, something along the lines of…‘I first read about that band/artist on Americana-UK ages ago’.

I must admit that I take personal responsibility for this ‘Dirty Dozen’. I first saw Three Blind Wolves at The Dublin Castle in Camden about a year ago, absolutely superb. This is a heavy Americana band with a rockin’ country vibe but with all the roots of good old fashioned British folk. ‘Sound of The Storm’ is a tough little number to find but well worth it when you do, this will appear on a certain writers top 10 this year for definite.

Tell us about yourselves and what you do?
Hi, I'm Ross Clark and I sing and play guitar in the Glasgow rock band Three Blind Wolves

How did you get together/start out?
I have been playing as a solo artist since I was aged 17 and I met the guys through the Glasgow gigging circuit. I got to the point when me jumping around on my own simply wasn't loud enough, it's wasn't the sound I was happy with anymore. This is when I got the other guys involved.

What is your current release/future release?
Our first record 'Sound of the Storm' was released by Communion records this year and we are currently mixing our first full length record due for release early next year.

What is the best part of being in a band/singer/song writer?
I think touring is my favourite part of playing in a band. I love playing shows every night. There can never be enough in my opinion.

What is your most significant moment yet?
I suppose our show this year on the BBC Introducing stage at T in the Park was definitely a highlight. We are planning to go to America as well, this will be our most significant moment. But hey, if all goes to plan significant moments will keep coming our way.

What are your biggest musical influences?
I'm really influenced by first and foremost by Neil Young then I suppose The Band, Hank Williams and Willie Nelson as well. I love louder heavier music like Pavement, Sonic Youth, Neutral Milk Hotel and bands like The Brian Jonestown Massacre and recently I have been getting back into Slayer and stoner rock bands like Sleep and Dead Meadow. I know that may sound weird but I try to write country songs and try to play them as loud as possible like my heroes.

What venue/gig do you most want to play?
I think it's got to be the Barrowlands in Glasgow, I think it's the best venue in the world!

What is your best/favourite song you have written?
Right now, I think one of the new songs ‘Tall Man Riding’. I think its one of the more honest songs I have written. It says exactly what I wanted to say on a particular personal issue I have and for me, music that comes from the heart means more.

What’s your favourite album of this year?
Yuck - Yuck

What does the next six months have in store for you?
We still need to finish mixing this album, heading to the states later this year and touring some more of the UK and Europe. It's all go as they say. So excited for people to hear this album!

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
On the road.

What do you like most about Americana-UK?
What?! Who said I liked you guys?? Hahaha, don't worry we are brosephs 4 lyfe!
