Riverseven

Riverseven Riverseven

No, we’re not featuring British waterways all of a sudden but in fact a Canadian band. Having just finished a string of UK dates and releasing a new album, Americana-UK caught up with Riverseven frontman Michael Bongertman for a ‘Dirty Dozen’.

Tell us about yourselves and what you do?
Riverseven is a rock pop band that infuses a little soul and R&B.

How did you get together?
We all knew each other from previous bands that we have played in together.

What is your current release?
Our current release is our album Riverseven.  At the moment we are pushing a song on the record entitled ‘Falling Hard’ as a single.  We are not quite sure about a future release at moment.

What is the best part of being in a band?
Being able to create music together and share collectively our musical abilities in the studio as well as on the stage.

What is your most significant moment yet?
Seeing a positive response to our music across different parts of the world, from different age groups and cultures.

What are your biggest musical influences?
There are several:  Jeff Buckley, Imogen Heap, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Steely Dan, Squeeze, John Mayer, James Taylor, Benjamin Taylor, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Led Zeppllin, Cold Play, Jamiraquoi, Foo Fighters, Jamie Cullum just to name a few...

What venue/gig do you most want to play?
Any venue that brings people closer together through music where there is an interaction with the audience.

What is your best/favourite song you have written?
We have enjoyed working on all of them.  Each song has its own special place.

What’s your favourite album of this year?

It's difficult to narrow that down when you love so many different styles of music.

What does the next six months have in store for you?
The next six months will probably have more performances and promotion in New York, Toronto, and the UK.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Hopefully still writing, recording and playing music.  Creating new sounds and new fans as well as growing as artists.

What’s the best thing about Americana-UK?
That it promotes new music and is receptive to new talent.
