Hi, how's it going?
I've had a great time in England, you betcha - its always great - I'm heading to Holland tonight
I played a Muslim school in Keighley; that was really interesting, Farmer Jason went down really well; its just great the reception he gets everywhere
How do you get into the Farmer Jason persona? Is it harder than playing other shows? How does it work touring two different sets concurrently?
It always helps to get dressed up into character - but I've always done that, I'm not the kind of guy who wears his work clothes on stage, I want to put on a show. With this kind of tour I've got to be really on top of my game; there's a lot of pressure to be sure and I want to do it right
Any travelling tips?
Its pretty unglamorous; always get rid of as much luggage as you can - and give yourself plenty of time
Which other children's performers do you rate?
I love the telly tubbies, I was a telly tubby fanatic, there's loads of great stuff for kids out there, I love Dan Zane and Milkshake, Milkshake is fantastic
To what extent do you view Farmer Jason as an educational project?
It started out as pure fun - the lessons have grown up out of it, the environmental aspect - he's a farmer, that’s part of it! I'm not involved in any projects outside of the records nut that might change.
What are your career highlights or favourite records you’ve made so far?
I think the early Scorchers records are quite good, and the last one as well - I thought that was a good record. Probably after that Empire Builders is the record I'm most proud of. I am aware od what I've done, what we've done and I know we changed some things but it doesn't matter; you still have to prove yourself every time you go on stage.
There's a best of Jason Ringenburg record I'm putting together, a compilation of all sorts but Farmer Jason is my main commercial, focus right now, I'm always working on that, the music and show and there's a lot of tv and promotion to do.
Some kids I know told me to tell you they want to see Farmer Jason in space
<laughs> A lot of people say Farmer Jason is out there in space already, we'll have to see but I like that idea, maybe you're onto something
Anything else you'd like to say?
I just love Americana-UK; it's a fantastic website, its run by great people and I'm always happy to be on it
