Loose Music have just released their 2011 label sampler which corrals together tracks from this year’s albums from The Felice Brothers, Jim White, Dawes and Hurray For The Riff Raff, plus an exclusive track from The Handsome Family’s as yet untitled 2012 album.
Nice one Bob! Billboard reports: "While historically Robert Plant and Nashville might not go hand in hand with each other, the legendary Led Zeppelin front man and Music City were pretty good for each other Thursday night (Oct. 13), as he picked up a top album nod at the 10th Annual Americana Music Honors and Awards."
Pitchfork reports: "As previously reported, Sufjan Stevens collaborated with Raymond Raposa of Castanets to score a documentary called Beyond This Place, a tale of the relationship between filmmaker Kaleo La Belle (a childhood friend of Stevens') and his rebellious, hippie father."
Let’s get this out the way, it’s a rubbish name, Beams, they don’t sound like a band called Beams, and that will put people off – don’t let it. The opening tracks are really terrific, and the double vocal is super ace. I really love it.
