Dawes Begin Writing Third Studio Album

like, now

Have a top weekend whatever you get up (which always sounds like you're about to "get up to something" but it's not meant like that...) Billboard reports: "Dawes will be playing an assortment of shows this year, continuing to promote its 2011 sophomore album "Nothing Is Wrong." New Wilco Video Features Popeye

or new Popeye video features Wilco, depending on which way you look at it

Pitchfork reports: "As reported on Monday, Wilco starred in a recent "Popeye" cartoon strip. Turns out it was a precursor to an entire animated video for Wilco's song "Dawned on Me", from The Whole Love. The clip was created by King Features in partnership with the band's dBpm Records and directed by Darren Romanelli. There's also an accompanying website, wilcospinach.com, that teases Wilco-brand spinach "coming soon".

A star studded celebration of the days when folk bought sheet music (in their millions) 'The Beautiful Old Turn Of The Century Songs' is a project curated by Paul Marstellar and Gabriel Rhodes. A year in the making this pair have persuaded a host of luminaries to join them in this festival of old time music hall favourites which range from 1823 to 1918. Using instruments that would have been available at the time of the originals they have crafted a delightful homage that will, depending on the age of the listener, revive memories of family sing-along's and the BBC light programme or intrigue at the sound of contemporary artists delving into this cornucopia of antique delights.
