Eve Selis "Family Tree”

Hippy Chick Twang, 2012

Perfect Pop Rock Country and Western that gives the Dixie Chicks a run for their money.

  • Eve Selis’s latest album, 'Family Tree', uses the classic pop Americana template that has produced many of the genre’s best known artists including the Dixie Chicks and Shania Twain and this process has not failed to deliver. The results are fourteen cleanly produced, perfectly performed modern country and western pop standards that stand up with the best of Shania’s and the Dixie Chicks.

  • It is interesting to note that Selis, who has been garnered with a number of music awards in her home of San Diego, funded the record through fan donations, some of which amounted to $10,000. This support afforded her the opportunity to employ the legendry Albert Lee, whose distinctive country guitar style can be heard throughout the record. Selis’s lyrics bed down in familiar territory documenting the trials and tribulations of middle class America and of a woman becoming wiser and finding herself. The execution of both these sentiments and the record’s production surely make it ripe for Radio 2. It’s catchy and infectious stuff.
