Looks like a good lineup... it's real pity it isn't held in Leigh here in the North West that would have been a little more convenient for us northerners. :( par for the course I suppose?

I'm not sure where they get the evidence to support the Largest Free Folk Festival claim, but it is bloody good. Plenty of stuff to see, but get there early. The weather's usually great too.

Certainly no hoax!

I've lived in Leigh all my life and cannot recall a) a year when it didn't hapen, b) was ever anything less than great.

This year though it has to be said they have outdone themselves.
The fantastic line-up this year owes much to the influence of hard working AUK man Will Bray, and my Shangri-la surrogate and pal Tom Burgess's input - all under the progressive wing of Folk Fest stalwart Paul Collier. I doff my cap to you all. 8)

It takes place mainly down in the old town on the Thames Estuary (so you can smell the Delta mud maaaan) but also in Warrior Sq Southend and the old Library Gardens in Leigh broadway.

I can't recommend it enough.
Pray for good weather please!

Wayne - I think the claim is pretty close to the truth - 4 days, free festival, tens of thousands of punters....any other contenders I think folks should post right here so we can conduct a 'proper' 'scientific' 'experiment' 8)

Looking forward to catching up Lance! Do you know when The Arlenes are on? Hoping it's the same day as The Champs, The Luckies and The Rockies!

Hey Tom,

Rockingbirds is in Southend on the Saturday - you guys in old Leigh on the Sunday.
Arlenes should finish in time to dash over the other side of the tracks for Danny & the Champs...

See you there brother 8)
