Not that Ive heard much of FF but, from what I've read, aren't they a bit less rock-y than BOH.

You could also throw Grand Archives into the mix too. Any band worth their salt these days has got to have big facial hair it appears. Actually I think FF and BoH sound completely different. Got the FF album on order (double vinyl - hurrah!) and if the EP is anything to go by it should be something quite amazing.

I hadn't heard of them (Fleet Foxes) but am checking them out now. Reminds me most of Ron Sexsmith, but with the Band of Horses band. I like 'em! Thanks for the heads up!

absolutely! it's a cause i've been championing for quite some time. Nothing says 'I don't give a fuck!' more than a big mo-fo' beard... and after all, ain't rock n' roll s'posed to be all about not giving a fuck?

All these guys must be single then. My band tried it, Wife would not kiss me until my beardyness went, pedal steel player was forced to shave his off by his day job employer (he's a groundsman at a school and I think it was scaring the kids), while my drummer was forced to shave off a fantastic moustache after a battle of wills that resulted in his girlfriend refusing any form of physical contact for a month!

It was a darn shame it really was an ace tash.

I have no idea what else is due for release this year, but if there is anything better than this album, it'll be a masterpiece.

seen this review from pitchfork.

incidentally, how do you it where you change the writing on the link to something you want it to read? when folk do that, I get so impressed.

Been listening to this all week and it's superb. Could be this years best and is really refreshing as Midlake's "Van Occupanther" was back in 06. Cannot help but notice some similarity with Midlake, but it's a real mix. Beach Boys meet CSN&Y meet Midlake sort of thing. Brilliant album.
