Scott Cook "Long Way To Wander" (Groove Revival 2007)

Chilled out take on folk rock formula

'Long Way To Wander' is an eloquent, finger picked, perfect for Sunday listening record. Opener 'Fish Jumpin' is closely followed by 'My Grandma' a spurious, self explanantory little ditty with crazy rhyming couplets, tales of back home and reassuring banjo.

'Worried Blues' sees Scott dusting off his best Tom Waits impersonation to weave a melancholic travelers tune. 'When the Lights Go Down' continues in a similar vein augmented by saxophone.

'The Bus Tune' could quite easily be renamed 'Tonight Matthew I'm going to (try to) be Johnny Cash'. Title Track 'Long Way To Wander' sees Mr Cook strip back the sound to simply guitar and vocals, creating the perfect soundtrack to pottering around the house.
