Company Car “Collars” (Independent, 2007)

Hard rock is hard going

Priding themselves on unpredictability and wildness, Company Car have made a record that is either an exercise in rock experimentalism, each song containing the seeds of 5 other songs, or a big mistake. My feeling is that its the latter: stop-start sonic nonsense trying too hard to create difference in a field of grungey rock that has been done to death. Lead singer Dave Parker’s going to damage his voice if he carries on singing like this; any listeners who get to the end might just have damaged their ears. Hard to pick out any tracks in particular as its not always easy to tell when one has ended and another begun.
