The Mood Elevator ďMarried AliveĒ (Laughing Outlaw 2007)
Donít take the stairs when thereís a mood elevator around
Itís tough being a man. Women, they cheat, they wont shag when you want them to, and then they go and shag other blokes. They act jealous, but they wont commit. So what are you going to do? Letís hope you wont just whine and pity yourself. Why not write a raucous, humorous powerpop record? Chris Plum and Brendan Benson have, and itís a pretty reasonable affair. Songs of sour love backed with trying-hard hooks and beats and some assertive harmonising make Ďmarried aliveí an interesting listen. Itís not a brilliant record; Plumís voice isnít that strong and the experimentalism is occasionally uncomfortable, but it is better than most and promises an exciting future.
