NME reports: "Danger Mouse's collaboration album with Mark 'Sparklehorse' Linkous and David Lynch, has been given an official released date.

Called 'Dark Night Of The Soul', the LP is due out on July 12 in the UK and July 13 in the US.

Dedicated to Vic Chesnutt, who contributed to the album, but died in December 2009, it features 13-songs written and recorded by Mark 'Sparklehorse' Linkous, who committed suicide last month.
Originally due out in 2009, a legal dispute between Danger Mouse's label EMI, resulted in the LP being made available online last year through peer-to-peer sites and was not released legitimately.

"I told Mark [Linkous] that we'd worked things out with EMI back in January and he was very happy that the album was finally going to be released this year," Danger Mouse said in a statement. "Mark meant a great deal to a lot of people and I'm grateful to have made music with him and to be a part of his legacy."

Featuring the likes of Iggy Pop, The Strokes' Julian Casablancas and Super Furry Animals' Gruff Rhys, the album was released last year as a picture book featuring photos by Lynch and a blank CD with a sticker saying, "use it as you will" on it."
